Geraldo Rivera Claims That ''Hip-Hop Has Done More Damage to Black and Brown People Than Racism''

Fox News contributor, celebrity Apprentice star, and Talk show host Geraldo Rivera apparently had a mouth full to say about Hip-Hop's "effects" on the black community earlier today when he stopped at HuffPost Live.

The conversation Geraldo had with Josh Zepps was definitely enough to make your skin crawl. He (Geraldo) seems to think that "Hip-Hop has done more damage to black and brown people than racism."

This coming from a man who hosted 'Geraldo', a controversial talk-show! Ha!

Geraldo favors immigration reform, gay marriages, abortion rights - he also deems himself a "militant moderate" when it comes to voicing his opinion.  Rivera did go on to explain why he thinks hip-hop has been more "damaging" than racism over the last ten years. 

Rivera stated: 

"Hip-hop has done more damage to black and brown people than racism in the last 10 years. When you find the youngster—a Puerto Rican from the South Bronx or a black kid from Harlem—who has succeeded in life other than being the one-tenth of one-tenth of one percent that makes it in the music business, that's been a success in life with his pants around his ass and with visible tattoos. It's this whole ethos." 

He continued to say, "And I love Russell Simmons. He's a dear friend of mine. I admire his business acumen. At some point, those guys have to cop to the fact that by encouraging this distinctive culture that is removed from the mainstream, they have encouraged people to be so different from the mainstream that they can't participate other than, you know, the racks in the garment center and those entry-level jobs, and I lament it. I really do. I think that it has been very destructive culturally."

Host of the Live segment Josh Zepps, who appeared to be completely thrown off by the rant, replies, "I don't want to go down an entire racial hole because there are a lot of potential explanations for why there is alienation in minority communities [outside of] hip-hop."

To which Rivera replied, "Oh, of course, but I think fashion plays a part."

Bobbi Kristina - We Are Praying for the Best!

Bobbi Kristina has been in a coma since January 31, 2014. She was found in her bathtub unconscious and non-responsive. The cause is unfortunately still unknown. 

We have read countless times that the decision to take Bobbi off of life support is still pending and has caused a lot of conflict. It would be a tragic end, according to most of the general public it seems too ironic that her mother, Whiney Houston, was found the same way. But, feuding online over if it would be the moral, or immoral thing to do isn't helping the situation. And ultimately, it is the decision of the family that will determine the fate of 21 year old Bobbi. 

It must be very difficult for both sides of Bobbi Kristina's family to undergo such a similar tragedy that took the lovely & the talented late Whitney Houston from us. But, does it really come as a surprise that the Brown's, and Houston's are going toe-to-toe on things that should seem to be pushed to the back of their mind at these trying times? Not only over decisions, but over money and 15 seconds of fame as well. 

"At this time it is requested that the media cease speaking with unauthorized members of the family," family lawyer Christopher Brown told Us last Friday, Feb. 13. "The integrity of the events that led to the hospitalization of Bobbi Kristina must remain uncompromised. Various members of the family have provided media interviews, however, none of them are approved visitors to see Bobbi Kristina. None of them have first hand knowledge of Bobbi Kristina’s treatment and the medical staff at Emory University Hospital has not communicated with them." 

Bobby Brown's family lawyer has asked that the media does not talk to any one family member, especially since they seem to be asking for monies to comment, or do interviews. The family has been asking for thousands of dollars, accommodations, as well as many other perks. 

One thing the lawyer has cleared up, is that Bobbi and 'Husband' Nick Gordon have never officially been married. This information was released just 3 days after her hospitalization to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Also, news has circulated that Gordon has not gone inside the hospital, and only appeared to 'stage' photos for the media, but it is said that he has remained in hiding since. He has asked media not to contact himself, or other family member. He also allegedly told friends that he cannot wait to be reunited with Bobbi. 

Was there foul play? Detectives have launched an investigation to find out more about Bobbi Kristina's state when she was found. There was said to be injuries to her chest, and bruises on her face and mouth. The Georgia police did confirm to the public on Monday that this is being treated as a criminal investigation, however, there is not yet enough evidence to place charges on any one individual, nor is there a suspect to charge. They have not ruled out foul play, drug/substance abuse, removal of evidence at the crime scene, and other potential cover-ups and schemes. Nick Gordon, and friend Max (who found Bobbi unconscious) have not been ruled out either and are still under investigation. 

Family members, including Bobbi Kristina's father, Bobby Brown and grandmother Cissy Houston and Pam Houston, continue to hold on - with every last prayer not gone unsaid by Bobbi Kristina's hospital bedside, with the hope of a miracle. The only thing we the public can do now is continue to send out blessings and love to the family of Bobby Kristina to show support.
